Asus Zenfone 2 is the latest model that Asus have launched in the Zenfone series. It is among the best smartphone that is available in the market at affordable price range. The smartphone offers 4 GB RAM and 2.3 GHz processor which is best in the race too. However, in order to gain and unleash the full power of the smartphone, one needs to root it. Rooting enhances the performace of the phone and also allows the user to install custom ROMs in it. Pre-requisite to root Asus Zenfone 2

Before to begin rooting your Zenfone 2 smartphone, there are some steps that you need to follow in order to smoothen the process and complete is without any problem.

 
  • First of all you need to install Intel USB drivers on your PC and install them. You can download the drivers from the link given here.
  • You also need to download ADB flash tool on your computer from here.
  • In order to root the smartphone, you need system file that is very essential for rooting. Here are few files that you should download-
  1. 12.40.11_preroot_system.zip
  2. 13.40.11_preroot_system.zip
  3. 12.40.11_preroot_system.zip
  4. 13.40.13_preroot_system.zip

Steps to Root Asus Zenfone 2

Step 1: First of all you need to enable USB debugging in your Zenfone 2. You can find it under Settings >> Developer options >> USB Debugging.

Step 2: Turn of your Zenfone 2.

Step 3: Open the fast boot menu. You can open it by pressing the power button and volume up button together when your phone is switched off.

 

Step 4: Now the ADB file that you downloaded, extract the file system 1GB in te same ADB folder. You also need to rename the file to ‘system.img’.

 

Recovery

Step 5: Open command prompt. The cmd should be opened in the same folder where the image file is saved.

 

Step 6: Connect you smartphone to PC via USB cable.

Step 7: Check whether the smartphone is properly connected or not by typing adb devices and press enter. You will get a list of Zenfone 2 devices if the phone is connected successfully.

 

Step 8: Now in the CMD window type, flashboot flash system system.img

 

Step 9: The flashing process will begin and will take around 10 minutes to complete.

And that is all,  you have successfully root your Asus zenfone 2 smartphone. When you restart your smartphone, it will be fully rooted. Now you can install tweaks and ROMs that you were not able to do before in your Asus Zenfone 2 smartphone.
